Gullbore Suspends Campaign

Posted on 9/24/2008 by Jeremy Aldrich

RICHMOND - United States Senate candidate and former Virginia Governor John Gullbore announced this afternoon that he is suspending his campaign "until this crisis blows over".

"The numbers are in and they don't look good," said Gullbore this afternoon. "Even after huge expenditures trying to bail out this sinking ship, results are still bad and looking worse every day. I am announcing my intention to suspend this campaign, including recalling all ads and refusing to take part in any debates, until we deal with this situation."

Asked whether he was referring to the national economic crisis or his own lackluster campaign for Senate, Gullbore thought for a moment before responding, "Yes."

Gullbore concluded his remarks with an appeal to his opponent to also suspend campaigning. Asked when it might be appropriate to continue campaigning again, Gullbore replied hesitantly, "Mid-November?"

Haha - it's contagious!

I can't believe McCain wants to "suspend his campaign" and postpone the debate when so many people are waiting to compare him and Obama side by side on the issues (finally) and that he technically still is campaigning by getting political about this crisis (that a week ago he was denying) and coming in right before they finalize the agreements to look like he helped get it done.

If he was worried about the 'distraction' of the debate, why not just ask for the location to be moved to DC and go do the debate after a day on the hill?

Sounds like an attempt at a sneaky political ploy to me. Glad the debate people said it's going on as planned. I hope he doesn't show up.

P.S. LOL about Palin in the sidebar... let's see, every picture so far has related somehow to the word "crock", like Davy Crockett and Croc shoes, so are you saying... she's a... crock? nice one. haha
